Message from our club Honorary President Mr. Ray Scrafton

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to players, officials and sponsors visiting Leeds Corinthians RUFC website.

It made me very proud when Peter Hallas asked me to be his vice president and then to become president of Leeds Corinthians. When I came here from the Yorkshire Copper Works I was made very welcome and I knew straight away that this was the only club for me.

I would like to make a special welcome to our new head coach Roger Daniel and wish him every success in the coming season. It is good news for the club that Neil Haywood will be 1st team captain again for the new season, as I think that 1st team will have a very good season and hopefully will be challenging for promotion.

Dave Murray, as my vice captain will be helping me with the 2nd team and with all our years of experience and knowledge we should be onto a winner. I would also like to thank Nigel Foster and Ian Welldon for bringing us some of their players through from the junior ranks to play open age rugby for the first time and I wish them all the best.

We begin this season with high hopes of cup and league success. All we want from the players in the 1st and 2nd team is commitment to training and playing

Last but not least I would also like to give special thanks to the Management Committee, bar and kitchen staff for all of their continued hard work.

2nd Xv Match Report

Corinthians 2nd Xv 29
Burley 2nd Xv 14

A strong Corinthians 2nd Xv took on a strong Burley 2nd Xv on a freezing Saturday afternoon. Both teams we’re buoyed by there 1st Xv teams not having a fixture this week. Corinthians didn’t get off to a great start and went a try down by a well worked Burley try. Corinthians respond well by scoring try of there own. Confidence was boosted even further by a push over try from a 5m scrum, No 8 Harry kept his nerve at the back of the scrum to score the points, finishing the first half 12-7 in front. Corinthians started the second half in a more positive way. Matty ward scored the pick of the second half tries finishing a well worked move through the back line. Gareth Thomson scored a great individual try running a good angle to score the points. Corinthians try Scorers; Adam Scrafton + 2 Conversions Gareth Thomson Mark Massey Harry Matty Ward
